Psychology · Blacktown & Western Sydney

A psychologist for Blacktown, on your terms.

Evidence-based therapy that fits around your life, not the other way around.

Finding a psychologist in Blacktown often means a long waitlist or a clinic on the other side of the traffic. Wiser Minds works flexibly, by secure telehealth or at the Blacktown office where suitable, and Andrew settles the arrangement that suits you on a free call. Andrew Bechara is a registered psychologist offering warm, evidence-based therapy for the things that tend to weigh people down: anxiety, stress, low mood, and the harder patches of life.

What I help with

Therapy for the things that wear you down

  • Anxiety, worry, and overthinking
  • Low mood and depression
  • Stress and burnout
  • Self-esteem and harsh self-criticism
  • Perfectionism and the pressure to hold it together
  • Life transitions, change, and feeling stuck

Sessions may be delivered by secure telehealth or at the Blacktown office, depending on suitability, and the format that works best for you is something we sort out together when you get in touch.

How it works
01

Send an enquiry

A relaxed conversation with Andrew about what is going on and what you are hoping for. No paperwork, no commitment.

02

Make a plan together

If it feels like a fit, you and Andrew line up the first sessions and, if you would like Medicare rebates, talk through a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.

03

Work that goes somewhere

Practical, evidence-based therapy with Andrew, aimed at real change rather than talking in circles.

How I work

Warm, direct, and genuinely collaborative

The goal is not to keep you in therapy. It is to help you understand yourself well enough to need it less.

Therapy here draws on evidence-based approaches like ACT and CBT, with a strengths-based lens. That means we look honestly at what is hard, but also at what is already working, and we build from there. You will leave sessions with something to try, not just something to think about. Plenty of people come in unsure whether their struggles even "count." They almost always do, and you do not need a crisis or a tidy explanation to start.

Why it works

Psychology that fits around Blacktown life

Western Sydney is big, the traffic is real, and time is tight. Flexible appointment options help take those barriers off the table.

Secure telehealth means no commute across Blacktown or the wider region, no time off work for travel, and access that does not depend on transport or mobility, and for most people video sessions are just as effective as sitting in the same room. Where it suits you better, appointments at the Blacktown office may also be available. You and Andrew work out the right format together when you enquire.
